Ernie Jackson has led an interesting and varied life.
Having survived the terrible Merseyside Blitz of 1941 his parents separated and for several years he lived with his Mum in the poverty of a Liverpool dockland tenement slum.
The family were eventually reunited but it was only a short time before their young Dad, a proud dock labourer, died suddenly. The tragic loss was compounded by the fact that he had ben the only bread winner and his two small children and their Mum were left destitute.
Family life, indeed their very existance, was extremely hard and by the time he was twenty Ernie, having moved from job to job, was without education, financial means, ambition or future prospects. Fortuitously he was also without any criminal convictions and, as a last resort, attempted to to create a future by joining the British Police Force.
Over the next 27 years he rose through the ranks before retiring to become a businessman at the age of 50. His entrepreneurial skills and business acumen, hitherto unknown, have enabled him to travel the world in luxury.
These remarkable memoirs have enabled the Author to discover who, why and what he is.
